Priority over Priorities

The purpose of the Priority over Priorities blog is to help you learn how to prioritize your goals and feelings to succeed in life. One must learn to discern the most important item from a list of important items. This blog also has another unique element: you can send the author an email about any subject or personal issue you would like him to write about to help you work through it. Bear in mind that the blog will focus on motivation and success and will follow a “how-to” format. Your name will be kept anonymous.

Do you roar like a lion but hunt like a rabbit? Are you a snake who feeds on the weak? Do you take every opportunity to lie until your own dishonesty begin to crush you? Do you claim to be something that you are not? You might think you are deceiving others, but people always have a way of discovering the truth. And once they do, they will mock you to your face and talk about you behind your back. Your reputation will suffer. To avoid this situation, you must back up your claims with your actions.

Lying does not always mean telling falsehoods; it can be a sin of omission—like counting from one to 20, but skipping the numbers after 15 to get to 20. If this sounds like you, you'd be wise to rein in such a habit. Can you recall your original dreams and aspirations or have they become lost in the false claims that you are making?

The easy road is not always the quickest way to get to where you're going. If you take a jet plane, but hide under the seat all the way to your destination, what will happen when that plane lands? Will you remain under the seat? If you have not come prepared for an extended period of isolation, you will be unable to breathe, you will get hungry and thirsty, and eventually, you will die.

You must take time to honestly prepare yourself for success. A lion wouldn't set out to hunt in the dark. A lion cannot survive on the kill of other lions and call it adaptation—that's pathetic and weak. You won’t deserve to be called a lion until you can roar your own way to success.
